Color by Mimori Ao

Sumire and Touta, the protagonists
and couple of this story
Konnichiwa~
Color by Mimori Ao is a short manga, only 2 volumes long. The story revolves around two neighbors who are childhood friends, Sumire and Touta. Sumire is a short tempered girl that has never been in a relationship and knows nothing about them while Touta is addicted to the feeling of a new love. They have alway seen each other as just friends, until Touta casually kisses Sumire; now whenever he touches her, her heart starts pound and she becomes flustered. Out of frustration and annoyance, she kisses him, an act of revenge if anything else. The next day, Touta confesses to her. It seems each of their kisses has flipped on a switch in their brains, but Sumire isn’t ready to admit it. She tells him that she doesn’t see him as a boy at all, but that doesn’t stop him from courting her. It doesn’t take her long to cure her denial, but she’s still worried that Touta will get bored of her; she’s been his friend for years and it seems he only likes the begin of the relationship. She tries to reject him with this logic, but regrets it when she see how offended he is; Sumire chases after him and confesses, declaring she will make him fall so much in love with her that he will never be able to look at another girl. Thus, their love story begins.
Its a fast romance, the main characters getting together in the first 2 chapters. But I like stories like this because
then you get to see how their relationship develops over time; plus, since Sumire has never had a boyfriend we get to see her mature and grow a little, learning what it means to be a girlfriend. We also get to see Touta tackle a serious relationship, having acknowledged his bad habit of ending a relationship after the first few weeks. Both of them make mistakes and try to learn from them, not wanting to hurt or cause pain for the other. Something I particularly like about this manga is that Sumire doesn't get annoyingly high and mighty
Touta is really affectionate towards
Sumire
about kissing; many
manga girls always act like kissing and hugging is perverted, kicking and punching their boyfriends whenever they try. Sure it takes her time to get used to it, but like a normal teenage girl she eventually comes to like kissing him and such. I also like that Touta isn't a super popular guy and that no one treats Sumire as a plain boring girl that doesn't deserve him. In fact, when Sumire says she’s dating him, her friends tell her she could do better and could probably win over a more mature guy. Sumire, though a little short-tempered and slightly impulsive at times, she is rather mature and usually takes care of her childish and sometimes bratty boyfriend. But Touta really does love her and finds her so adorable that is difficult for him to restrain himself.
grow closer and mature. It felt like the mangaka only examined the surface of this couple’s love and relationship. We do see progress with each chapter and the ending doesn’t feel rushed or anything, it just feels like the story could
continue. The bonus chapter is placed several months after the story ends, but it feels a little off. It doesn’t feel like the couple has made much progress, though there are  times when it is implied and though it is sort of cute, I feel its better to see the develop of those sort of feelings, watching them realize that ‘like’ has become ‘love’ and trying to understand this new desire. The art is “new shoujo”, meaning the style is very much like other shoujo made in 2010-2013, thick lines and art that has a very soft and almost fluffy appearances. Its average, nothing really standing out, but its nice and
pleasing to the. Overall its a cute story and a quick read, only 7 chapters, and I recommend it.

The only thing that bothers me is that it could be longer, maybe 5 or so volumes, so that reader could really see them
