Kagerou Days: Kousuke Seto

Konnichiwa~
Reviewing another song from the Kagerou Project! Today its Seto's song Shounen Brave. I was planning on saving this song for when the PV came out, but Summertime Record is officially the last PV Jin is going to make. It was an amazing video and a better ending to the project than Outer Science, but I really wished they had given Seto his video! Apparently Jin had planned on making the PV shortly after the album had been released, but he cancelled it because the video would've had too many spoilers. But song itself is still amazing, so lets begin:
Seto has been bullied since he was a young child; he was small, timid, and an abandoned  child. The first few lines are about him being bullied, about how scared he was and how he felt he had no courage. The next few stanzas are about an abandoned dog, a dog he feels can sympathize with him. He was his only friend, hugging him was probably the only warmth and affection he had as a child before meeting Ayano and the rest of the early Mekakushi Dan. He loved this dog, he wish he could talk with it; since dogs can't talk he wished he could somehow communicate without words. "But there was a tragedy waiting for me": Some sadistic, idiotic kids threw his dog friend in a river. Seto dived in and attempted to save him, that's when he came into contact with the Kagerou Daze and was possessed by the snake of the "Stealing Eyes", meaning he's more or less telekinetic, he can hear people's thoughts and feelings just by looking at them. But when you have that kind of power, you're head becomes crowded with noise. "They're so dirty", "Let's play a trick" "I hate you" "Just die already" Those types of thoughts yelled inside his head; Suffocating, loud, and frightening. One day he can't take the hateful voices of the crowded city anymore, so he begins wandering a quiet forest. Then he hears Mary, Mary who wants to change tomorrow, Mary who's lonely and wants someone to help her. So he approaches her cabin and enters. When he see's a cowering Mary, he wonders if he could save her, just like heroes do in pictures books. He decides to protect her, to save her. He wonders if having a "heart that rescues hearts, could be called 'courage'". At the end of the song he says:
"As I start to move forward today, as I do every other day,
I can longer hear the voice from outside the door"
Since the day he met Mary, he can block out the voices that had tormented him. Since he's met Mary, he's had the desire to protect someone, the desire to become strong so that he can protect her. They saved each other which I think is very adorable! I love them as a couple, both of their personalities are just so cute! And I really love that this song shows how similar they actually are. I really wished this had been made into a PV, but hopefully it'll come out in anime and manga. Alright, bye-bye

OMG OUTER SCIENCE IS OUT!

People online kept talking about it, but whenever I checked I never found anything. But its out and I watched it and I'm freaking out! I'm seriously shaking...Jin truly is a genius.

The dark Konoha, also known as Kuroha is the villain of Kagerou Days. Before the video Shinigami Record(which I will go over later), many assumed that Azami was the antagonist, but in this we clearly see she's a victim of Kuroha, just like the rest of them. From my understanding, he wants Mary because she has the ability of "unifying" the snakes that possess everyone. Does he want all their powers for himself? What does he want to do with that power? I don't know, all I know is that he's sadistic, callous, and terrifying. The video and song feel like were in a nightmare that he controls. The Mekakushi Dan want to protect Mary, but in the end Kuroha used them to torture poor Mary-chan. She loves all of them, when was with them everyday was fun. The last thing she wants is to lose them. Kuroha knows that. Twisted Kuroha, I can't wait to see you defeated. The theory going around is that the ability Ayano gave Shintarou in Lost Time Memory is going to be key in defeating Kuroha, but I also feel that Mary has a strength that she can use. I hope they do defeat, I really hope it doesn't end like it does in here.

Jin's Comment on song. Taken from (Mekakucity Records Booklet)
"This story isn't fictional.
And that’s why all of your ‘tragedies’
Are so stupid that it makes me yawn.”
Just like how when children are told by adults, “That’s so immature,”
There are times when people are looked down on from above.
Even if children view it as something grand and magnificent,
To the adults, it seems lacking and worthless.
However, imagine that there is an existence that looks down at those adults in the same way.
This is the song of a monster that overlooks everything.
People’s lives, hearts, meetings, memories, deaths—
He looks down on it all, as if they are “stupid” events in a book.
What if that existence started influencing someone’s everyday life to merely kill time?
Please enjoy this helplessly unfolding tragedy.
Bye-Bye

Kagerou Days: Night Talk Decieve

Konnichiwa~
Today I'll be going over another song from the Kagerou Days series. This song centers around my favorite character in the Mekakushi Dan: Shuuya Kano, who has the power to manipulate how others perceive him. In short, he's a liar who deceive everyone around him, which he usually does to put others at ease around him. Even if he's serious or worried, he'll make them see him as smirking idiot who seems complete carefree in order to keep the rest of the group calm. He's aloof and unfocused, but he's reliable and obviously cares about the group, often playing the role of the leader. This song is Kano talking to you, telling you a story about himself and his pain, of the mess inside his head as lies and lies build up, how he thinks he's a monster who can only deceive others, I think even including himself. Its one of my favorite songs in the series (tied with Children Record, Lost Time Memory, Transparent Answer, and Heat-Haze). The songs great, the video is simply amazing, it shows he's agony and the chaos within his heart. I also like how he includes Seto and Kido, whom he grew up with in the orphanage and with Ayano. He calls Seto the "boy who hates lies that make people lies" which I think is referring to the fact that Seto was bullied when he was little, being constantly hurt because of his timid nature. Then he calls Kido "the girl who fears the disappearing night" probably referring to the fact that when Kido was little she couldn't control her powers and was terrified of disappearing, so often clung to Kano. When does talk about them, he sort of adopts their appearances, wearing Seto's hairclips and appearing as a female version of himself. So check it out, don't listen to Kano at the end when he tells you its all a lie, because he's just trying to laugh it off and make you feel better

Before I leave this song, I'd like to point out that when you see Kano's imitation of Kido, he's asking for those around him to listen to his greed. I like Ayano and Shintaro as a couple, but since Kano is my favorite character, Kido being second, they are my favortite pairing! And I think that one line shows how he likes her, but doesn't want to burden her with his feelings. I really wanted a song about their relationship, whether it be romantic or simply friendship, I think it could be beautiful. I hope the manga goes over their relationship more, I'd love to see them as how they were as kids since apparently Kido was crybaby and Kano thought she was cute. Bye-bye
