Boys Please Kiss Him Instead of Me ~ Chapter 2

She wants to enjoy being in an otome,
but can she really control her
yaoi fangirl-self?
Konbanwa~
Today I found chapter 2 of Watashi ga Motete Dousu n da by Junko. Kae-chan, a hard-core fujoshi, is now petite and cute, gaining the attention of Igarashi, Nanashima, and Shinomiya. But she really isn't sure how to handle this new attention, especially when they all ask her if they want to go to the movies. They decide to go as a group, Mutsumi-sempai joining in, probably because he thought it was going to be fun. Her friend Acchan tells her this is the perfect chance for her to get Shion, her favorite anime character that recently diede, and get a boyfriend. But if she wants to enjoy this otome, then she must keep her fujoshi-nature hidden. But when she's surrounded by 4 handsome men, can she really contain it?
I'm looking forward to chapter 3! This manga is really hilarious and entertaining; if Kae-chan wasn't a fujoshi then it just be another reverse-harem and I wouldn't care for it, since the heroines of most reverse-harems are annoyingly dense and wishy-washy. Really i think my only expectations are Alice from Alice in the Country of Hearts and Haruhi in Ouran High School Host Club. Well, now Kae-chan I suppose: surrounded by handsome boys and sort of wanting to be a normal girl, but can't control her fujoshi-intincts. She really is what makes this manga interesting. If this manga does every get romantic, then I do hope she ends up with Mutsumi-sempai. The other 3 have really cute personalities, but I really dislike that they only started liking her when she became cute. If they get to know her, the real fujoshi her, and still like her, then I might accept them. To be honest, I'm not sure if Mutsumi-sempai even likes her, he looks like he still likes her as a friend, but that's still good. Its shows he doesn't care about people's outer appearance, he focuses more their personality. Anyway, I can't wait for chapter 3! I'll definitely go over it, bye-bye

Boys, Please Kiss Him Instead of Me

Kae surrounded by Nanashima, Mustomi
Shinomiya, and Igarashi
Konnichiwa~
Nadeshiko-chan here, sorry I'm a little late. I'll be reviewing a new manga called Watashi ga Motete Dousu n da, art and story by Junko. Now before this shoujo, Junko as a mangaka has strictly done only yaoi and shounen-ai. I haven’t read any because I’m not a boy-love fan but I thought it was quiet amusing that this yaoi-shounen-ai mangaka’s first shoujo heroine is a fujoshi (a.k.a yaoi fangirls/boy-love fans). Alright let’s begin:
Kae Serinuma is a chubby 2nd year high schooler and an otaku, specifically a fujoshi. She and her friend A-chan ship their classmates Igarashi-kun and Nanashima-kun, though Kae is obvious more obsessed with it; unlike A-chan who wants a handsome boyfriend, Kae is satisfied with watching a yaoi romance from afar. Then one day, her absolute favorite anime character dies and she’s devastated. She locks herself in her room for a week, refusing to eat anything or come out. Her worried mother and annoyed brother force her out, only to be shocked by how much weight she’s lost and how cute she’s become. When she returns to school her new lovely appearance wins the hearts of Igarashi-kun, Nanashima-kun, and her kouhai Shinomiya-kun, who had treated her rude when she was fat but became gentle when he see’s her new form.
Now in a comedic and entertainment sense I found this manga very amusing and I look forward to reading the next chapter: boys pursuing a girl who has wild yaoi fantasies of them and who’d rather see them go on a date then to go on a date with them.  But in a romance sense, I hate it. For starters, it’s a reverse harem. Reverse harems rely heavily on their bishounens, the girl is usually beyond dense, and in general they frustrate me. Second of all, it’s a very shallow. I’ve seen manga with rather shallow love, but they usually make up for it with the romantic/cliché idea of love at first sight or something. But all of these boys knew Kae before she lost weight and when  she was fat they just saw her as classmate or an annoyance to them. Then after seeing her

become cute all three of them decide they want her. The only boy I don’t dislike for their shallowness is Mutsumi, Kae’s sempai from club. Not only was he able to recognize new skinny Kae, but he treated it as if it were nothing. He even comforts her by telling her that no matter how she looks outside, she’s still the same person she was before. If there’s going to be a romance, he better be the winner in the end because he’s the only one that I think actually cares about who she is!
Though I don’t expect much from the romance, it’s an entertaining story with a very unique heroine and plot, I really look forward to seeing her reactions to this new situation. Only the first chapter has been released in Japan and only one chapter has been scanlated. That’s all, bye-bye
